Always a high point of the season, this family concert which is produced with The Symphony Society, features the winners of the Society's annual Young Artist Competition, Daniel Fellows, viola and Sarah Walters, piano. 8 PM - ANNIVERSARY GALA CELEBRATION with

           THE BARTLESVILLE CHORAL SOCIETY

                  ALEXANDER PESKANOV, piano

                        SHIRLEY CLOSE, soprano

                              KATHY STEWART, alto

                                     ROSS HAUCK, tenor

                                           JARED LOOPER, bass
Joyful and exultant music will ring the rafters as our Golden Anniversary is celebrated with a wonderful variety of music. Many talented artists join us to celebrate our 50th, almost all of whom have appeared with the symphony in the past! Pianist Alexander Peskanov returns after 20 years, performing the music of Chopin with the orchestra, honoring one of Bartlesville's beloved ladies and benefactresses of the arts, the late Mary Kane. The concert concludes with a grand finale, the monumental final movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, the famous "Ode to Joy" with the Bartlesville Choral Society and four spectacular soloists.

Shirley Close has performed in opera and oratorio around the world, including many seasons on the German opera stage. Shirley performed with the symphony on Lauren Green's second concert with the BSO; Kathy Stewart is Bartlesville's own, having performed widely, including with the Los Angeles Opera, and now working and teaching in her home town. She was previously heard with the BSO performing Mahler's Songs of a Wayfarer, but was also a young oboe player in the symphony before "finding her voice"; Bartlesville native Ross Hauck has gone on to a vocal career, currently living in the Northwest. His spectacular tenor voice was heard previously with the BSO as soloist in 2002. Ross also began cello lessos with Lauren Green around the age of 3! Jared Looper is new to our community, with an overwhelming bass voice hiding in the body of a young lawyer!

Many other surprises, musical and otherwise, are in store. This will be a concert long remembered--don't miss it!
