OCTOBER 8, 2005 - MARVIN HAMLISCH, composer/pianist/raconteur
One of the finest and most exciting concert artists, Marvin Hamlisch has won every major award—Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, Tonys and Golden Globes! He is the composer of over 40 movie soundtracks as well as the scores of Broadway shows including A Chorus Line, which also won a Pulitzer. A pianist who delights audiences with a wonderful mix of his own music and hilarious humor, Hamlisch is also the Principal Pops Conductor of both the Pittsburgh and National Symphony Orchestras. His appearance on stage with our symphony will make for a superb evening of musical entertainment!

November 19, 2005- EUGENIA ZUKERMAN, flute
Acclaimed as "one of the finest flutists of our time," Eugenia Zukerman is versatile as well as beautiful and elegant. Her many recordings are considered masterpieces! Renowned not only for her musicianship, she is famous as an author and television commentator. She has been arts correspondent for CBS Sunday Morning weekly since 1981. She has written two novels, an anthology of essays, and articles for The New York Times and other periodicals. Her performance with the symphony will be a sublime treat!

Described as "a phenomenon" by Strad Magazine, the beautiful and glamorous Lara St. John brings to the stage personal charisma, an unflagging musical imagination and genuine passion! An exceedingly successful recording artist, she has performed with major symphony orchestras the world over. The winner of several prestigious competitions, her violin virtuosity has become well known. Her stunning playing with the Bartlesville Symphony will be absolutely thrilling.

Hailed as "one of the finest American pianists of his generation," Stephen Prutsman is one of the most versatile and brilliant pianists today—a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, composer and conductor. His prestigious awards include the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, the Queen Elizabeth Competition, and the Avery Fisher Career Grant. He has recently been named one of the three Artistic Partners of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, sharing this innovative leadership position with Joshua Bell, Nicholas McGegan, and Douglas Boyd.

Always a high point of the season, this concert which is sponsored by The Symphony Society, features the winners of the Society's annual Young Artist Competition. Not only are the young soloists invariably breathtaking in their prodigious ability, but the entire concert, geared for the whole family, is a delight for audiences of all ages. Absolutely unique, this dazzling ensemble has charmed audiences worldwide with their exotic blend of virtuosity, artistic passion and charisma! Quartetto Gelato is an international sensation. The group's stage presence and delightful humor adds to the classical/pops repertoire. Their concert with the symphony, entitled "Italianissimo" features Italian composers, operatic arias, Italian movie themes, tangos and gypsy melodies and more.
